GIF images are fun.
The acronym "GIF" stands for "Graphic Interchange Format". It is basically an animation of an image, in which the image appears to "animate" by rotating accurate frames. This is an example of a GIF:
As you can see, the light appears to be flashing, but in fact, the animation happens by using lots of frames to making it look like it is actually flashing, but in fact, the "glow" is made by a gradient layer, that is slowly appearing and disappearing from the background.
